I’m often asked how I photograph my Self-Portraits. This is short, little video to show how simple the setup is and can be. From my experience, self-portraiture has been such a great way to connect with /and understanding photography - thus I hope this posting is helpful in getting you started! Enjoy :)

Photographing and being silly :)While in Nova Scotia, I was lucky enough to meet the most wonderful people while visiting. New found friends that open their homes to me, explored the back roads/rural areas that I was unfamiliar with, shared their personal knowledge and thoughts, and even took the time to assist me with my work while there. This year I have been continually inspired by the level of friendship and trust I have experienced. Here, another fellow photographer was nice enough to assist me on a 7AM shoot in the fields surrounding my grandmother’s old farmhouse. The night prior it had poured, bring to light the most beautiful morning! To everyone that I had the great opportunity to meet those two weeks - thank you!

"So many of my friends are locked into a logic pit or endless learning loop. They spend hours every day reading about someone else’s photographic techniques as though reading about it is an osmotic process that will embue them with the knowledge they need to do something with their cameras. I used to look to the web for indications of where photography was going. All I discovered is that everyone’s work is going in all different directions and none of those directions have anything to do with my work.” — Kirk Tuck"

Ever since I was child, I have had a fascination in the beauty of history, ancestry, and vintage imagery. This past year I had the unique opportunity to revisit this interest through my road trips to Nova Scotia - which has by far been an inspiration in more ways than one. Mom - thank you for letting me borrow your wedding dress this morning :) Its so beautiful!
