Self-portraiture has become my source of discovery and voice. This 2-day workshop is designed to help you identify concepts that are significant to you, and how to communicate those ideas through interpretive capture of yourself within your surroundings.
Ideas will be explored through reflection and meditation, followed by both spontaneous and structured photography exercises – to encourage trust and understanding of ones own creative process. Students will then work independently in a surrounding familiar and personal to them, to photograph their concepts.
The second day of the workshop, students will return with their images from working independently. I will provide an introduction to various post processing techniques that can be applied to further personalize and finalize their images.
The workshop will close with a review of everyone’s final images (optional participation), allowing students to explain and discuss their independent concepts, and a final discussion of “What is a self-portrait?”
